Introduction
The NIMCET (NIT MCA Common Entrance Test) is a national-level entrance exam conducted for admission to the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program offered by several National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and select IIITs in India for the academic year 2027-28.
Students who want to pursue MCA from top NITs must qualify this exam and secure a competitive rank in the centralized counselling process.
What is NIMCET?
NIMCET is the gateway to MCA programs in multiple NITs. Admission is based solely on the rank obtained in the exam.

Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality: Must be an Indian Citizen.
- Qualification: B.Sc / B.Sc (Hons) / BCA / BIT / B.E / B.Tech or any 3-year degree with Mathematics/Statistics.
- Minimum Marks: 60% (6.5 CGPA) for Gen/OBC; 55% (6.0 CGPA) for SC/ST.
- Age: No upper age limit. Final year students are eligible to apply.
Exam Pattern
The NIMCET-2027 test will be conducted as a single paper in Three parts containing 120 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The test will be in English Language only.
Important: The three parts of the Computer-Based Test (CBT) appear sequentially. Time assigned for each part is fixed. Movement between sections is not permitted outside the allotted time.

Mathematics
- Set Theory: Unions, Intersection, Venn Diagrams, Truth tables, Tautology.
- Probability & Stats: Bayes' Theorem, Mean/Median/Mode, Standard Deviation.
- Algebra: Quadratic equations, Logarithms, Progressions (AP/GP/HP), Matrices.
- Calculus: Limits, Continuity, Differentiation, Integration, Area computations.
- Trigonometry: Identities, Inverse functions, Heights and Distances.
Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning
Topics include: Blood relations, coding-decoding, direction tests, seating arrangement, puzzles, syllogism, and data visualization. Focuses on critical thinking and data interpretation.
Computer Awareness
- Basics: CPU, I/O devices, Computer memory structure.
- Data Representation: Binary, Hexadecimal, 2's complement, Floating point, Boolean Algebra.
- Software/Hardware: OS (Windows/Linux), RAM/ROM, Web browsing, and Online Security.
General English
Comprehension, Vocabulary, Grammatical Patterns, Technical writing , and overall accuracy in expressions.
