The landscape of professional degrees in Maharashtra has shifted dramatically. Starting from the 2024–25 cycle and continuing into 2026, BBA and BCA courses have transitioned from general degrees to technical professional courses under the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) umbrella. This change brings these degrees on par with engineering standards, significantly boosting their market value and global recognition.
For all government-affiliated and aided colleges, the MAH-B.BCA/BBA/BMS/BBM CET is mandatory. Admissions are conducted through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP).
Major institutions like Symbiosis (SET), MIT-WPU, and Vishwakarma University continue to conduct their own entrance exams. If you miss the State CET, these remain viable alternatives.

The National Education Policy (NEP) has introduced a "Multiple Entry and Multiple Exit" system:
Graduates can pivot into management (MBA) or deep-tech (MCA). A major 2026 advantage is the eligibility to enter NITs and Top Engineering Colleges for MCA via the NIMCET or MAH-MCA CET.
